Rover the moon!

Ewood arrive in the end

"I've joined Blackburn at the second time of asking. When I was at Bolton, I had the choice of Rovers or Liverpool. But being such a big fan of Liverpool, I had to go to Anfield otherwise I'd regretted it for the rest of my life. Now though, I'm a lot older and more experienced and it's a good time to come here."

Better than ever

"I'm a far better player than when I joined Liverpool and hopefully Blackburn will benifit from that. I played with and against some great players during my time at Anfield, and there were many older players at the club who passed on their experience to me. I worked under Roy Evans and Gerard Houllier and I picked things up from them that have improved me too."

Quitting Anfield

"I felt my chances of playing were reduced when Roy Evans left. He bought me and knew what I could do. When Gerard came in, he had his own ideas and I didn't fit into his plans. Although Mr Houllier asked me to stay, I decided it was the right time to leave. I could have stayed until the end of the season but then Rovers might not have come back in for me. I had to seize the opportunity now."

Red's rosey future

"It was hard for me to leave behind such a talented bunch of lads. I know Gerard's come in and Roy's gone and people are saying it's because of Gerard they're doing well. But the quality has always been there. To be honest, Liverpool have done nothing different in training since Roy left. At the end of the day the cream floats to the top and it's starting to happen at Liverpool."

Irish eyes

"Although, I've not been playing regular football this season I still believe I can keep my place in the Republic of Ireland side. I have a great relationship with Mick McCarthy and he knows I'm fit and will stay focused. If he rings me up to play in an international, I'll give 110 %. In fact he was one of the first people to ring me up after the move to Blackburn. But hopefully I can now play regular Premiership football and guarantee my international place."

Beating the drop

"I know it's an old clich but this team really is too good to go down. Brian has come in here with a host of ideas - ideas I reckon will work. Only a few seasons ago this club were Premiership champions so I'm sure we'll stay up - especially with experienced pros like Tim Flowers, Chris Sutton and Jason Wilcox still here. They're winners and I know there's no way they will settle for second best."

Back in the middle

"My favourite position is central midfield and now I've a chance to play there again. With Incey and Jamie Redknapp filling those spots at Liverpool, my options were limited, so I was happy to play full-back or wing-back. But I loved playing in the middle at Bolton and I think I've played some of my best football in the central midfield role."

Kiddo's the man

"I've come to play for a manager whose CV is second to none - except Alex Ferguson, of course! From training sessions and seeing him on match days, you can tell he's very enthusiastic and a great man-manager. In return, the players want to do well for him, which can help our results and should see us climb up the table."
